This wonderful fast aircraft has had one owner built by Kevin Armstrong (deceased) and first flown in 2007. Now owned by his sons who are non pilots and wishing to sell. The aircraft has been issued a new permit to fly by the LAA valid till 12-Sept-25. During the annual inspection the cylinders were removed for inspection of cam shaft and general serviceability. No problems found.
Total hours since new 211:40.
Engine Lycoming IO-540-D4A5 with 211 hours since zero time.
Propeller Hartzell 2 blade last inspection 6 Aug 2024 with form 1 release.
Interior: Please refer to photos. The hole in the panel is the removal of a non approved “historic” VOR. I would suggest this area to be used for a modern iPad with moving map navigation.
Trig 8.33 and mode S transponder.
Typical cruise speed is 170 kts indicated and a TAS of 187 kts (GPS derived), with 52 lts per hour.
This aircraft is a “Time Machine” shrinking Europe. Flown from UK to the Black Sea, Romania in a day as I recall.
Currently historically this a/c was certified at MTOW of 1781 lbs, currently there is an application with the LAA to increase this to the designers MTOW of 2000 lbs. Being the first Rocket in the UK for reasons of “expeditious” LAA permit issue the lower weight was used prior to experience on type being obtained.
This aircraft is one of the fastest and easiest aircraft to maintain being with the LAA. Exceptional opportunity to own an easy to fly “RV type” with special performance.
